Hi everyone!

I will be visiting Toronto for one week (York Univ more precisely).
I would love to run a RPG session either on monday 13th (evening) or sunday 12th (my plane arrive around 2:00 PM, so I could start around 5:00 PM)
Last slot would be Saturday 18th lfrom 5:00 PM)

As a GM I prefer narrative RPGs
I can GM Dread (Neoplastic Press), Lady Blackbird type (any setting), Eldritch RPG (med-fan)
But I also like Castles & Crusades, Tribe 8, Star Wars D6, Battlestar Galactica (or another setting with the cortex system)

Last time when I visited York (in april) some people said they would like to try a Star Wars D6. Still possible!

I have many adventures and settings in minds. Just tell me.

York University might not be the most convenient for everyone, so can you give me some advice about where this session could be organized?

Best regards

Gael

UPDATE:

I can host a game since I will have a small appartment, up to 4 players is possible I think.
Location will be York University.

Again, if someone has a better idea, I welcome it.

Would you like me to put up an official event for this? I myself am unsure if I can go, but I can advertise the event. If so, post:

  • Name of the event
  • The date and time of the event
  • Location: include name and address
  • How to find you

Use the existing events as a guide.

Just downloaded the FREE version of Dread: The Book of Pandemonium Player's Section and briefed it over. WOW. This game is nuts. Splatter-punk I'm guessing? Fun! XD

I'd love to try the d12 Dread game, but Monday the 13th is definitely out, BUT maybe on the 12th. We'll see.

Thanks, let me get my address and I will ask you to put it as an official event.

OK let’s be crazy!
I propose two events:

On Sunday 12th: Dread (Neoplastic Press), only if I have 3 players no more, (game mechanics constraints), well two would work, but not four.
Time: 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Location: York University Campus (exact address will be posted)

I will play an introductory game in two parts: first the PC before the big change that make them join the fight against dark demons. During this sequence, I will improvise a mini scene for each player, while playing the scene, I ask the two other players to be “NPC” taking part in the mini scene. After this introduction, we will do a short adventure.

On Monday 13th: Home brewed rules for a Twilight Zone narrative type of RPG.
Time: 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM
Location: York University Campus (exact address will be posted)

“There is a fifth dimension, beyond that which is known to man. It is a dimension as vast as space and as timeless as infinity. It is the middle ground between light and shadow, between science and superstition, and it lies between the pit of man's fears and the summit of his knowledge. This is the dimension of imagination. It is an area which we call The Twilight Zone.

Pr Chanar, 43, a brilliant Indian Astro-physicist, Dr Bellefleur, 31, a dedicated French doctor, Dr Mac Millan, 35, a careful Scotish ingeneer and Captain Carter, 38, a US marine have been selected to explore one of the most challenging puzzle for humanity: a mysterious celestial corps beyond our solar system. They are waking from a deep space cryo-sleep to discover what is waiting for them. Beyond the shallow skin of their skills, their deepest fears and buried secrets will be put on trial. This will happen here and now, in the Twilight Zone.”

Note: I can accept more than 4 players. I just needed four name for my teaser.
About the system:
A simple system, to introduce some dice roll to support a mainly narrative role play.
3 attributes (same as Dread system) Body, Spirit, Soul. Distribute +0/+1/+2.

When a roll is needed: basically roll a white (positive) D6 and a black (negative D6). Add the attribute bonus related to the action. White result minus black results is the pure luck/bad luck factor. Your attribute might allow you to overcome the challenge. This is the basic unskilled challenge.

Average difficulty: one black die
Challenging task: two black dies

Profession gives you an expertise of 2 bonus dices (you roll 3 white D6, keep the highest). If the highest is a double add +1. If you get a triple +2. You can have only one current profession

Interests give you 1D6 bonus die. It can be hobbies, or previous professions. You have one + Spirit bonus.

You can get other bonus D6 by using your Karma pool (3+soul bonus dies as a starting pool)

Your character has a trait (curious, religious, organized, companionate, atheist etc… good or bad it depends on the situation) and a bad trait (impatient, too much curious, anger issues, selfish… well it should be obviously bad) These are roleplay guidelines and do not intervene in the tests. But to recover your Karma, you need to roleplay each one on a balanced way.

I'm putting these up on the calender, but we NEED you to tell us how people "How to Find You". This becomes rather important when they'll be looking for you in front of a building :)

Also, e-mail me if the address is wrong :) (Not sure which you wanted, the Keele street address strikes me as less specific)

Kelee street is rather vague indeed, it is a very very long road. I don't know how many kilometers

Here my exact address: 2 Passy, Apartment 306 (#44 on the map of campus linked)

I will have my phone number very soon.

The address advertised before if maybe easier to find. Passy road is a small street parallel to Assiniboine road, Kelee street is a road to access to York University Kelee Campus (by car).

If you come by subway go to Shepeard Station then take the bus (Rocket bus to York Univ, 196 if memory serves - the 105 will also take you there, but it's a bit longer) you arrive in front of a mall (York Lane). Then it's a 5 mn walk.

People interested in the event can e-mail me so we can organize how do we meet more precisely.
