THE RULES

  • Meet First!
GMs and players put a lot of creative energy into games they write and play. Hosting an ongoing campaign usually means inviting people into your home. Before you start, it's important to make sure that everybody gets along and that the playstyles of people at the table line up.

So before you get into or organize an ongoing game, come out to one of our open events. You could be invited into an ongoing campaign, or organize a game from among the people you've met. These low-key meetups are the best way to meet players and GMs, and they're the gateway into full campaigns.

  • Maintain Active Status
The Meetup.com system will deem you to be an 'inactive' member if you don't visit the TAG website at least once every three months. To ensure that our membership numbers are accurate, we routinely clean out members tagged 'inactive' by meetup.

Please take a few seconds each month to check out the message boards, or sneak a peek at our calendar. That alone will ensure that your membership remains active.

  • 3 Strikes Policy
If you RSVP "YES" for an event and do not show up for the event you will be given one-strike. An AO will notify you that you have been given a strike. If you are given three-strikes an AO will ask you to leave the group until such time that you feel that you are able to organize your schedule such that you can attend the events that you sign up to attend.

If you attend an event and are disruptive, disrespectful, heavily intoxicated, make it difficult for other players to enjoy the event, or do not pay your bill you may be asked to leave the group immediately. Otherwise if AO's agree that a second chance is warranted you should anticipate receiving two strikes for bad behaviour.

You will not get a strike if:
    - You RSVP "Maybe" to an event and you do not show
    - You change your RSVP up to 2-hours in advance of an event
    - You send an e-mail to the organizer or an AO during or after an event that you missed letting us know there were some extenuating circumstances.

    GM's/DM's/Storytellers/Event Hosts:

    To Register a No-Show / 1-strike
    - Make sure the person you are reporting as a no-show was signed up as a YES RSVP and did not change their RSVP before the event started (if you need help to figure this out contact an AO).
    - Contact an AO and let them know the date and title of the event and the screen name of the person who was a no-show.
    - The AO is responsible for contacting the no-show and issuing a strike or accepting an explanation. If a satisfactory explanation is given no strike will be issued, if there is no response or no explanation a strike will be issued. AO's have a shared file tracking all strikes received.

  • Rules of Engagement
Respect is the ground rule for ALL our events, public or private:
    - Respect for the event.
    - Respect for the organizers.
    - Respect for the venue.
    - Respect for personal boundaries of the other members.

Our meetup is NOT here as a place to solicit or 'pick up' any of your fellow members. This includes following home, asking for phone numbers, etc. If you feel a burning need to meet someone outside of the context of a game, there are many 'singles' Meetups for you to use.

We do not tolerate racist, sexist, or homophobic jokes or slurs at any of our events, whether or not these remarks are directed at our own members. Likewise, if you're looking to include racism or mature themes in your games, talk with your group first to make sure that everyone has the same expectations and comfort levels. No exceptions.

Respect for other participants and hosts is essential. It is every member's responsibility to make this an open and fun community for all. Disruptive, disrespectful, heavily intoxicated, anti-social behaviours will not be tolerated. All members are also expected to take responsibility for ensuring that any food, drink or other items purchased at an establishment are paid for prior to leaving the event.

If you can't abide by these, we reserve the right to immediately expel you from the group. Warnings may be issued first if the situation calls for it. Recourse is at the discretion of the Organizer.
